We take our food seriously at the Red House Inn. We strive to use the freshest ingredients available to prepare breakfast using local sources as often as possible to ensure our guests enjoy the first meal of their day. In general Daniel tries to make sure that guests have something different for breakfast each day of their stay. Some favorites of guests are the English breakfast, fluffy homemade pancakes, traditional southern breakfast complete with Daniel’s buttermilk biscuits and stoneground grits and light, crisp waffles.
Our English style bacon and sausage comes from William’s Pork in Kingstree, SC where the Williams use field reared pigs to produce their meat.
Our eggs consistently are laid at From the Hart Farm in Transylvania County and are delivered once or twice a week by the egg lady Jennifer. We appreciate the freshest, most colorful eggs and know our guests do as well.
Our breads are baked fresh daily at Bracken Mountain Bakery in Brevard. The multigrain English muffins are a healthy addition to Daniel’s full English breakfast, and the cinnamon raisin toast is tasty enough to please the most discerning toddlers. “Mmmmm.” – Walter, age 2
Other ingredients are harvested in season and frozen or purchased from Transylvania Farmers Market. We enjoy serving fresh fruit salad knowing we hand-picked the wild blueberries, pancakes with caramelized apples from a local orchard, or
homemade jam made from raspberries picked at Queen’s Farm in Pisgah Forest. Our real maple syrup is shipped to us from The Field Farm in Vermont and its delicate flavor is perfect with our light and crispy waffles.
The Brown Bean in Brevard roasts our special Red House Inn blend to order, ensuring the freshest coffee for our guests. We also offer a selection of teas.
We could buy frozen, ready-made breakfast foods, but Daniel makes his biscuits, pancakes and waffles from scratch, freshly preparing them as guests arrive. We appreciate the superior taste and nutritional benefits of quality ingredients and enjoy carefully selecting our foods to create the best overall experience for our guests.
We happily accommodate special dietary requests and because we cook breakfast to order for every guest it is usually easy for us to substitute certain ingredients to meet guests’ needs. In the past we have catered to vegetarian and vegan guests and Tracie likes the gluten free waffles and pancakes as much as the traditional ones. Just let us know if you have special requests when you make a reservation and we will make sure you have a fantastic breakfast.
